Best piece of advice you’ve heard: “Do your best, not just what you can get by with.” – Mike & Mary Anne Young

Types of projects you’ve been working on this summer: My responsibilities at DEFENDERS can be broken down into three categories: Daily/Weekly reporting, Ad-Hoc projects, and IVR mapping. I picked up reports from several different analysts, so I’ve been able to get some exposure in marketing, sales, and field reporting. My main project this summer has revolved around the IVR for the Customer Experience Center. I am in the process of mapping out all the options of the IVR and then discovering where customers end the call. At the end of the summer, I should be able to produce a report based off of the IVR map. Throughout the summer, I have also analyzed several situations (Ad-Hoc) such as New Hire Target Close Rate and Talent Science Employee Recommendations.

Why did you choose to spend the summer with DEFENDERS? The main reason I chose DEFENDERS was due to my experience at my final round interview. Ryan and Jacob’s enthusiasm towards developing my skills as a Financial Analyst and as a person left me feeling energized after the interview. I knew that I wanted to spend my summer at a place where I didn’t dread going to work. Based on my interview, I was confident that DEFENDERS would provide that opportunity and I’m happy to say that I was right.

Favorite thing or story about DEFENDERS? One core value of DEFENDERS is to work harder on yourself than you do on your job. I thought this was a nice idea at the beginning of the summer, but I had to work hard and prove myself. What I have come to realize is that working on yourself leads to more results at work. Some of my most productive days have come after service days or time spent developing myself. I love that DEFENDERS encourages this atmosphere and it’s definitely set a high bar for wherever I go in my career.
