If your life had a theme song, what would it be? “Follow You”-(Ben Rector)

If you could sit down to dinner with anyone, who would it be and why? Tim Tebow. I admire the way he carries himself as an athlete under the light of media. He embodies what I desire to be – a person who stays true to his values and faith in all that he does. I believe Tim Tebow is an individual who knows how to motivate and lead others through his actions and words. He is has the drive in life that I hope to see in myself each and every day.

Favorite TV Character: Steve Urkel

Favorite place you’ve traveled: Johannesburg, South Africa

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? For the longest time, I wanted to be a meteorologist.

Best piece of advice you’ve heard? – “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight,”- (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Types of projects you’ve been working on this summer: I created new reporting using the company’s 90 Day-Review data. This data had been untouched for quite some time. The report is broken down into two areas of our business, and gives insight into performance ratings by team, and performance ratings by month of hire. The reports and analytics were sent to leadership of the included areas. This data helps identify areas of possible training improvement and hiring strategies.

Why did you choose to spend the summer with DEFENDERS? DEFENDERS is an environment that encourages growth in multiple facets of life. I’ve had many friends from Butler who have had the opportunity to intern with DEFENDERS. They were all sharp, driven students desiring continuous growth on a personal and professional level, and they had nothing but positive things to say about their experience.

After a friend recommended I apply and interview, I realized DEFENDERS would teach me more than I could learn anywhere else this summer. I saw a company that truly cared about my passions and interests. They cared about developing my character and my ability to lead wherever my career takes me. It was a company who made people a priority in and outside the workplace in how they serve.

Favorite thing or story about DEFENDERS? A story that impacted me was told during our initial internship introductory meeting. DEFENDERS partners closely with Shepherd Community Center for various service opportunities throughout the year. This organization is something that I am truly passionate about. I had the privilege of serving at Shepherd Community Center throughout high school. I was a part of a program called “Whiz Kids”, which was a weekly reading program where we were able to mentor a student throughout the year.

The story of DEFENDERS installing a security system for free for the family running the ministry at Shepherd was impactful. They were given notice that the family had their house broken into, and DEFENDERS wanted to make sure that the family was kept safe by installing the security system. That next night the individual tried to break in again but this time, thanks to DEFENDERS’ generosity, that robber was prevented from entering the home.

Favorite Quote: “We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.”- (Mother Teresa)
